Masthead

The Seventh Floor was founded in Pittsburgh in 2026 and is edited from Pittsburgh, Washington, and the Bay Area. No school owns it and none is named on the flag. The editors come from where they come from, and that is on their own lines.

Editors

Conner Baird
Founder · Editor in Chief
Pittsburgh

Conner Baird was born in Washington, D.C., grew up in San Francisco, and now lives in Pittsburgh. He is interested in when countries choose hard power or soft power, and how that choice affects their future ability to win support internationally. He plans to study political economy, to understand how incentives explain why countries act the way they do.

Jack Eustice
Founding Editor
Washington

Jack Eustice is interested in how advances in medicine and technology change the way people live and the way care is delivered, and in the distance between what gets announced and what reaches patients. He plans to attend college and then medical school, with orthopedics in mind, to understand how research improves the treatment and recovery of musculoskeletal injuries.

Kaz Rubel
Founding Editor
Bay Area

Kaz Rubel is interested in how AI will change the way mathematicians make groundbreaking discoveries, the tensions between educational institutions and the U.S. government, and the effects of social media overuse on attention spans in Gen Z and Gen Alpha. Kaz plans to study applied math, then go to graduate school or build mathematical models in industry.

How the masthead grows

Every title on this page describes work that is actually being done. Seats are added as the publication grows and are earned by published work and a masthead vote. A title whose work has stopped lapses at the next review.
